So after a week without posting, I am back.
I have been busy… So busy as a matter of fact. So much has happened in my life the past week than all the combined months I moved to Canada. I am going to attempt to give you a low down, from what I remember…
Tuesday
Leave home. My dad takes me to the airport and gives me the talk that of course includes women. I guess that he too knows that the women in Montreal are fine 🙂
Get to the airport, check-in, say cheers to my dad and hop onto the plane. Destination? Calgary. Saskatoon is so small that they don’t have a direct flight to Montreal. So I have to go millions of kilometres in the west before I can go the west…. grrr what a waste of time!
Fall asleep all the way to Calgary. Why? I did not sleep much the prevous night because smartass that I am, I decided to pack my suitcase about midnight when my plane was meant to fly 7 hours later. I paid the price by not getting much sleep at all. A lady who sat next to me tried to engage some conversation but anyone who’s seen me when I am trying to sleep, when I wake up or when I am trying to sleep knows how unfriendly I can be :o)
Get to Calgary. Sit on my butt for an hour waiting for the connecting flight. Due the new airport regulations, I cannot leave my luggage and just bugger off for that hour looking around Calgary because it was just after the week-end of the world’s famous Stampede. So, to kill time, I just stare at people in the Airport and have fun making eye contact with people to see who’s gonna look away first. Of course, I win all the duals except with a 5 year old who just stares at me for about ten minutes until I gave up.
We at last hop onto a plane for Montreal. I can already hear people around me speaking French
Long, boring flight to Montreal. I take a very nice long nap, wake up, refuse the food offered to me. I then do some reading that I get tired of after a few minutes then decide to pray and dedicate this new era of my life into the hands of the Almighty.
After 4 hours, we land in Montreal. It reminds me of Nairobi because of the humidity. I like humidity so I don’t mind at all…
Hop into a taxi and give the driver Ousmane’s addy.
Get to Ousmane’s. We hug, diss each other about the fact that I am still skinny and that he’s still the same “imbecile hereux” who laughs at anything anytime ;o)
We chill, share news, discuss who’s dead, pregnant, in Montreal and so on…
Wednesday
Nothing much happens. I went to a gym that I found here and I took a walk around Ousmane’s Neighbourhood’s. Wow! What a mixture of cultural groups! Just the way I like it. Of course, I give a very thorough look at ladies and ain’t dissapointed. As a matter of fact, if a guy cannot find any girl to date in this city because he says that they aren’t beautiful ought to be shot. In the evening, hang out at Ousmane’s bud and go to bed slightly early because of the mini-jetlag effect.
Thursday
We went to city centre of Montreal where I really fell in love with the city and the joie de vivre of its inhabitants. I get a sore neck lookig around and thanking the Lord for creating so many beatiful women. And, they are friendly too :o)
At night, we go clubbing. I convinced all my friends to meet at a house club for a kind of reunion. It’s also a way to discover the big players in the montreal clubbing scene.
I meet Steph who still looks the bomb after these many years! We exchange news and she tells me how she’s become such a house music avid follower and I tell her how I decided to spin the music. I also meet a friend of hers, Jenny a French girl who’s into cinematography. Nice girl but too shy ;o) We dance the night away and I cannot believe it when at about 4 AM when when we decide to go home, the streets sont remplis a craquer (filled with many people)!
We catch a taxi home and we get dropped of a few blocks near the crib because my friends are el cheapo and don’t want to pay 5 bucks for the extra zone.
I decide not to go to bed because in two hours, I have to catch a lift to go to Ottawa, Ontario to meet with Sam, my brother who’s found an appartment in a nearby city called Hull.
