Sometimes it sucks being a self-employed person. Not only does it require having some sort of discipline (that’s the one thing that I regret not acquiring at university) but it also requires reminding your family members, friends and acquaintances that just because you are not slave to the 9-5 routine, you are as free as you wish.
The following rant comes as a result of me noticing that a great deal of my day is spent running errands. I hate paperwork and tedious tasks that’s why most my bills are electronic and tend to have everything digitized. And if I really hate doing some things such as accounting and hectic cleaning up, I just get a professional to do it.
But I still do run errands! What’s the big deal, I hear you ask? Well, I would dare say that 70% of the errands I run are not mine! For the last two weeks, I have kept track of my schedule and noticed that most of the freezing is on behalf of other people.
I am nice but I have a limit. That’s why from this week, most favours are just going to stop. Basically, if people are not family or close friends or I am not sleeping with you (hope my parents don’t read this), bugger off. I am through with being people’s slave. After this post, I will get on the phone and assuming that I am in a better mood, will let people know that from now on, they’ll have to depend on someone else.
That’s enough whining for a day. I better go outside for some fresh air… On second thoughts, I will just have a Kit Kat, it’s too cold out there!
